Apple Inc was tight-lipped about the release of its new iPad mini, but the public came to know almost everything about it long before its launch on Oct 23.

Almost all the specs and features reported by various sections of the media - which were dubbed as rumours until a few days ago - turned out true, like in the case of iPhone 5.

Rumoured Specs and Features of iPad Mini:

It was reported that iPad mini would be cheaper and smaller with its screen measuring 7.85 inches (19.9 centimetres) on the diagonal with a retina display as against a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS TFT display of iPad 3. It is expected to run on iOS 6 and feature 3G LTE connectivity, A6 chipset, Wi-Fi, 3G versions, Thunderbolt port and NFC among others.

Actual Specs and Features of iPad Mini:

iPad mini has a completely new iPad design that is 23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter than the third generation iPad. It features a stunning 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display, A6X chip, FaceTime HD and iSight cameras, ultrafast wireless performance and claims to give 10 hours of battery life.

iPad mini features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for speeds up to 150 Mbps, which is twice the Wi-Fi performance compared to previous iPad models. iPad mini is available in Wi-Fi + Cellular models which are world-ready with built-in support for ultrafast wireless standards, including LTE and DC-HSDPA.

Apple unveiled its much-talked-about iPad mini at San Jose, California on Tuesday.

"iPad mini is every inch an iPad. With its gorgeous 7.9-inch display, iPad mini features the same number of pixels as the original iPad and iPad 2, so you can run more than 275,000 apps designed specifically for iPad," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
