Samuthirakani has returned to direction with his latest venture "Appa" which is produced by himself under his home banner of Naadodigal Productions. The movie hits screens worldwide on Friday, July 1.

The director himself will be seen in a key role along with Thambi Ramaiah and Namo Narayana. "Appa" has Ilaiyaraja's music, Richard M Nathan's cinematography and AL Ramesh's editing.

The movie tells the story of three fathers and their sons. It is a message-oriented movie, which also takes on private schools, residential schools, private hospitals, etc.

Samuthirakani will be seen as a model father, whose message to his son played by "Kaakha Muttai" Vignesh that there is a life beyond books and studies. He also teaches him about good and bad things in life and gives his kid complete freedom to make choices.

Contradictory to his style, Thambi Ramaiah plays the role of a strict father. He forces his son to achieve the things that he could not in his life. Also, there is Namo Narayanan, who raises his son with lots of fear and wants only to move forward in life without any distraction. How the three children grow in such a scenario forms the crux of the story.

Review:
Here, we bring to you the audience's response to the Tamil movie:

Haricharan Pudipeddi: #Appa good intentions (which you want to admire) alone don't make this highly preachy flick work. Raja sir's music makes it unbearable.

Dhananjayan Govind: #Appa made me & my wife feel proud that we have followed what @Samutirakani sir advocated in the film. Do watch in theatres & support :-)
#Appa is a hard hitting & impactful story told with conviction & responsibility by @Samutirakani sir. Really proud of his commitment :-)

Ramesh: #Appa is a good message movie.. Dir @thondankani has used day-to-day life situations to highlight.. A must watch for parents and kids..

Praveen quak: #Appa Movie Review - Some good lessons for fathers and all of us

Shankar32: Too preachy. Can be watched once. Mainly for family audience.

Harish: @Samutirakani strong msg to all father's #inspiring movie #Appa well done sir
