Just as fans are reeling with excitement after the official announcement on Ajith-Gautham Menon's "Thala 55," here comes more good news.

Anushka Shetty has been confirmed to star in "Thala 55" (tentatively titled). Ever since the Ajith-Gautham project was announced, there has been a lot of buzz about the film's cast and crew. After much speculations, director Gautham officially confirmed that the shoot of "Thala 55" will commence on 9 April.

However, the director had announced that details about the film's cast and crew will be revealed later.

Rumours were doing the rounds that Anushka will be playing the female lead, opposite Ajith. Now, it has been confirmed that the actress is indeed part of the big budget project.

Director Vijay of "Thalaivaa" fame broke the news on Saturday (5 April) during the audio launch of his upcoming film "Saivam". The audio launch function of "Saivam" took place at the GRT Hotel in T Nagar, Chennai. Besides the film's cast and crew, Gautham, Anushka and Amala Paul also attended the occasion.

The revelation confirms that Anushka will be starring in "Thala 55." However, an official announcement is still awaited in this regard.

Trisha in Ajith-Gautham Film?

Though the official word on the film's cast and crew is expected soon, the buzz surrounding the project does not seem to stop.

And the latest buzz is that actress Trisha might also be part of the Ajith-Gautham project.

"Director Gautham is considering the possibility of also getting actress Trisha on board for the film, which will be an action thriller. Both Trisha and Gautham are professionals who share a good working equation and the last time they worked together was on Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa," a source close to the film's unit told Times of India.

But again, there is no official confirmation regarding Trisha's role in the film. More clarity about "Thala 55" is expected once the film's shoot commences on 9 April.
