Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has begun rolling out v4.2 Jelly Bean update to the Xperia L in select markets across the world.

The new OS firmware with build number - 15.3.A.0.26 - has been released in India as well. It can be downloaded directly from smartphone (most preferred mode is Wi-Fi). Go to 'Settings' option, then open 'About Phone' and check for 'Software updates' and click 'System update'.

The update can also be transferred via computer suite Sony PC Companion (or Bridge for Mac Devices).

Sony has also released the change-log of the new Android v4.2 update for Xperia L. It includes:

  • Revamped home screen interface simplified for handling widgets, applications and short cuts. Increase in desktop panes to 7, auto-resizable widget and actionable notifications.
  • Now the application tray has been simplified to enable users to create and transfer application shortcuts and folders on the desktops. The application tray will also feature a new search function to locate apps for quick access.
  • New functionality has been introduced to Sony Media apps; 'Playmemories' will be integrated to Album application, whereas 'Music Unlimited' will now be attached to walkman app.
  • New Burst mode camera tool has been introduced to camera functionality to enrich photography experience.

Since OS updates are usually released in phases, it might take few days to cover the whole subcontinent.
