HTC has officially announced the availability of Android Jelly Bean for HTC One series handsets across the globe.

HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One XL are the first three phones going to receive an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.  More upgrades to other HTC phones to the latest Android OS are also expected in the near future.

However, there is no word on when the update will take place. All the more, there is no word on when HTC One V will get the update.

HTC said in a statement: "We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean."

HTC One XL is the LTE version of the One X and is almost identical to One X. However, a major difference is spotted in terms of processor as LTE versions support dual-core processor whereas HTC One X sports quad-core CPU. The international version contains 32GB of storage unlike the American version which has only 16 GB.

However, the update for the above devices will not take place until Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus 7 receive the update.

Android Jelly Bean from Google features redesigned UI, Google Now, enhanced keyboard and Project Butter to improve overall performance of the smartphone.
