After weeks of complaints on bugs in Lollipop OS update, Google's Android team has reportedly begun rolling out new stability firmware to select Nexus devices.

The company has released a new Android-5.0.1_r1 (Release 1) with build number LRX22C at the official AOSP (Android Open Source Project) page and has also released factory images (manual downloadable software) to three devices – HTC Nexus 9, Asus Nexus 7 (2013 Wi-Fi only model) and Samsung Nexus 10.

There is no word on the change-log of the new update, but it is believed that this new 5.0.1 Lollipop is a software patch to fix some bugs, which were affecting the Nexus devices.

Soon after the official rollout of Android 5.0 in mid-November, some Nexus 5 (and Nexus 7 as well) owners had claimed that they were having trouble tethering to Wi-Fi modems, despite entering the authorised password. The Nexus devices are said to show "Connecting", which becomes "Saved", but never connects.

Even Google's project member acknowledged the issue under the label  'defect-18035251' and had assured to escalate the issue to the developers' team.

Some of them even complained about the bugs in app switcher, which made random apps pop-up even after exiting it. Second bug in the SMS apps, which made message sending disabled in select Nexus 6, 5, 4 and some select Moto X (2014) devices, reported NDTV Gadgets.

In another case, 'silent mode' was removed from the setting options, once the devices were updated to Lollipop. Additionally, a bug was also found in the flashlight toggle in quick setting option.

If a user turned on the flash and left it on till the time out, it got switched off. But later when one tried to repeat it or use camera, the flash never turned on. The flash light came on only once the phone was re-booted.

The release of new 5.0.1 update is now likely to fix all the above bugs in the Nexus devices.
