It was confirmed by an Indian XDA developer forum member going by the moniker- 'n1234d', who owns a HTC One M8. To corroborate the claim, the member posted the screen-shot of the software update notification revealing the change-log of the new firmware. [To view the snapshot, click here]

The KitKat update brings cheers to many HTC One M8 owners in India, which despite featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, could not enjoy high-speed fourth generation internet up until now. Thanks to the new software update, the 4G radio hardware has been activated. Now, HTC One M8 joins the exclusive club of Apple iPhone 5S, LG G2 (LTE) and Xolo LT900 to offer 4G-LTE network support in India.

Last month, rival Samsung, too launched a new Galaxy S5 4G smartphone variant (with Snapdragon CPU) in India for ₹53,500.

Previously, the company had been selling its 3G variant with Exynos chipset.

Now that HTC has fulfilled the promise of providing 4G support for One M8, it now remains to be seen if it has any plans of releasing a similar software update for the newly launched One E8, which also boasts Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU.
