As many as 15 people, including three children and five women, were reportedly killed and 15 others injured when a mini truck collided with a bus in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh early on Saturday.

According to reports, the mini truck carrying a marriage party collided with the bus approaching from the opposite direction. There were no passengers in the bus and both the vehicles were moving at a very high speed, reports said quoting police.

While 14 people died on the spot, another one succumbed at Kandukuru Hospital. The condition of eight of the injured people was said to be critical.

Transport Minister S Raghava Rao, who visited the spot, announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those killed, IANS reported. He said the government would bear entire expenses for the treatment of the injured.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident. He asked the transport minister to ensure that best medical treatment is provided to the injured, the agency reported.
