At least five people were killed on Tuesday after a truck rammed into an autorickshaw in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

The accident took place on the national highway near Nellore bypass, a police officer told ANI.

The truck rammed into the autorickshaw when the men inside the auto were getting down at the highway to repair another truck, which had broken down after hitting a divider, the police said.

"The five people got crushed between the truck in front and the lorry behind, and died," the officer said.

Prima facie, the truck driver is believed to be responsible for the accident, as he ignored the stoppers that were put on the road after the other truck had met with an accident, police said.
