Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk's concert convoy was reportedly targeted in a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, shortly after his performance at Rogers Forum on Saturday night. No injuries were reported in the incident, and Canadian police have described the shooting as a targeted attack.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, the incident took place shortly after 11 pm on September 5, when occupants of a dark-coloured SUV allegedly opened fire on a vehicle travelling in the 2500-block of McCallum Road.
Local reports have linked the targeted vehicle to Virk's concert convoy. Some reports have claimed that the singer was travelling in the vehicle, reportedly a bulletproof Rolls-Royce, when the shots were fired. However, police have not officially confirmed the identities of those inside the vehicle or whether Virk was present, citing privacy concerns.
Police investigate possible vehicle fire link
Shortly after the shooting, police responded to a separate report of a vehicle fire in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, around five kilometres from the shooting location.
Officers found an SUV completely engulfed in flames. Investigators are examining whether the burned vehicle was connected to the shooting, although police have not confirmed the link.
The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to establish the motive behind the shooting.
Police appeal for witnesses
Investigators have appealed to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
Police are particularly seeking information from people who were near McCallum Road between 10:45 pm and 11:30 pm, or around Sunnyside Place between 11 pm and midnight on September 5.
No arrests have been announced so far, and no group has officially claimed responsibility for the shooting.
Incident comes during Virk's Canada tour
The shooting occurred during Virk's 2026 Unity Tour in Canada. The singer had performed at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford earlier that evening.
The incident also comes amid growing concerns over attacks and shootings involving members of the Punjabi entertainment community in Canada. However, police have not publicly linked the Abbotsford shooting to any particular group or established a motive.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine who carried out the shooting, why the vehicle was targeted and whether the subsequent vehicle fire was connected to the incident.
