Amidst the growing trend of celebrity death hoaxes reported on social networking websites, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is the latest to be victimized by such bizarre rumors.

On Tuesday, an unknown blogger created panic among the netizens after he declared in a blog post that Big B had died "in a car crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell."

Though the blogger referred to Amitabh "Bachan" and not "Bachchan", the name itself of the legendary actor was enough to create panic amongst fans and internet users.

Now that the whole confusion has been sorted, here is a little more information for Big B's fans. Apparently, the actor is absolutely hale and hearty, and was in fact enjoying a football match between Spain and Portugal on Wednesday.

Since the matches are usually telecast in the wee hours of India's time line, the actor was indeed up till mid-night and was found posting tweets during the semi-final match of Euro cup 2012.

In his tweet "T-787" posted Wednesday, the 69-year-old sports enthusiast said, "Goal less first half Spain v Portugal .. Both playing well enough .. Looks like a long night."

Big B was so engrossed in the game that the rumors of his alleged death hardly bothered him. The veteran actor didn't even bother to clarify that he is very much alive, let alone mention anything related to the rumor on his Twitter page.

"Tweeting on mobile.. Feel strange ..Always work on laptop ..moves faster and easier connect with TwFmXt . will get back after game," Sr. Bachchan tweeted last night.

"HOME !!! Aaaaah ! Lovely to join up again with the twiterati familia extendum ! back from the game and another penalty shootout !!," he tweeted minutes later.

Soon after that, Bachchan again posted, "And now that the game is over, the entire night to connect with all .. I think we need to change nomenclature of TwFmXt to TwFmXtNc."

It is astounding to see how netizens got swayed and created a hullabaloo of the hoax. All in all, six tweets were posted after which Big B had assumedly gone to bed once the match was over.

On June 26, when the rumor first started surfacing, Bachchan was tweeting about the auspicious number "787", which was in reference to his 786th day on the micro-blogging site.

The crazy blogger, who started the hoax, said on 24musicvdo.blogspot.in that, "Amitabh Bachan died in a car crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell," adding that "He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident."
