American Horror Story: Apocalypse will premiere September 12 on FX. The Murder House-Coven crossover is scheduled for this season and it promises to be "insane."

Season 8 will begin with a time jump. Roughly 18 months into the future in which Sarah Paulson's Cordelia Foxx is the current reigning supreme.

With that, a handful of characters are set to return as well. Jessica Lange's Constance Langdon is one of them. The Academy Award winner will be seen reprising her role as the archetypal southern belle in the 6th episode to be directed by Paulson (it's the actress' first shot at being behind the camera).

That's not all, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story breakout star Cody Fern has been roped in to play Michael Langdon, the antichrist. And, Evan Peters is back.

A little recap

Michael is the son of Tate Langdon (Peters) and Vivien Harmon (Connie Britton) from Season 1- Murder House. Vivien conceived after Tate raped her; the motive was to hand over the baby she was carrying to a childless ghost haunting the house.

Where does Season 3, Coven come in?

This season had the witches ruling left, right and centre. Theories suggest they will step in to the scene either trying to side with the antichrist or keep him from bringing on the apocalypse.

Fern's Michael will be headlining Season 8 along with Paulson, Peters, and Kathy Bates' characters.

The underlying theme

Even though the title has made it quite clear what the season will be dealing with, a cryptic Instagram post by director Ryan Murphy hints otherwise. A year ago, he had shared a photo, which listed Dante's 9 circles of hell. Since then, there has been considerable chatter that this Season might tackle one of the said circles.

Look's good

Murphy's muse and leading actor Paulson will have a very specific look she'd be sporting. Apparently, she's very excited to look the part. "Sarah Paulson is very excited about the dental appliances she will be wearing on the show," the director told Entertainment Weekly.

He also added that this instalment is going to be nothing the viewers have seen before, therefore extremely "chilling."

That's most of what we know of American Horror Story: Apocalypse. Addressing the crowd at the recently-concluded Television Critics Association summer press tour, executive producer Alexis Martin Woodall said they cannot help but be cagey about the storyline as talking too much about it would give away the mystery.

In other news, the anthology series has been renewed for a 10th season. Even though apocalypse means the end of everything that ever existed, we are pretty sure the writers can come up with something that's enough material for two more seasons.
