If the latest reports are anything to go by, theatre artist Makarand Deshpande will soon tie the knot with his girlfriend Nivedita Pohankar, who is a writer by profession.

The wedding of the couple, who met six years ago, is expected to be held early next year.

"Yes, I am getting married early next year. So far, it didn't occur to me that I should marry. There has been no pressure from my family either. It's not just about being in a relationship, but to become one took us time," he said, according to the Times of India.

Makarand, 49, was earlier linked with Sanjana Kapoor and "Dil Chahta Hai" actress Sonali Kulkarni; however, things didn't work out between them.

Deshpande, a familiar face in Bollywood, Marathi, Telugu and Malayalam cinema, is known for his roles in "Jungle", "Sarfarosh", "Swades", "Makdee", "Darna Zaroori Hai", and others. Apart from acting, he has also directed more than five films.

Meanwhile, Makarand became a known face in the Kerala film industry for his performance in Fahadh Faasil's 2013 hit film "Amen". He was appreciated for portraying the role of Shevaliyar Pothachan in the Lijo Jose Pelliserry directorial.
