Alia Bhatt trolled for accent; netizens accuse her of copying Kareena Kapoor; Alia reacts to BAFTA interview backlash

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt recently attended the BAFTA Awards, where she represented Indian cinema on an international platform and presented an award in Hindi — a moment that earned praise from fans back home. However, one of her red-carpet interviews from the event unexpectedly went viral. During the interaction, she briefly paused and gasped as she recalled an answer, which soon drew online trolling.

In the viral clip, Alia was asked about a memorable cinematic twist. She cited Gone Girl, but her pause while trying to recall specific details quickly became meme material.

Addressing the chatter later in a candid interaction with Diet Sabya, the actor reacted to the scrutiny and explained what was going through her mind at the time. "Why is it being talked about so much? Is it because of my expressions?" she said.

"So basically, I really think it is the best twist, but I haven't watched it in... when did it release? Ten years ago? So I haven't watched it after that. So when she said, 'that monologue,' I was like 'haan' (yes), and I was going back in my head thinking, 'oh yeah, that monologue, correct, correct,'" she explained.

"I was just going back in time, and I guess that's what you saw. I am a cool girl. I am a sweet girl. But I could be... total... I mean, I can be like... I am more sweet than I am cool. Actually, I don't think I am cool. I am an uncool girl  my sister would say that," she added.

Apart from the viral interview, Alia also made headlines for her fashion-forward appearance at Milan Fashion Week. However, she faced criticism online for her accent during one of her appearances at the event, with some social media users questioning her speaking style.

A user wrote, "Why is she talking like kareena kapoor be yourself atleast once . Can anyone show me a single video of #AliaBhatt talking as Alia ?? Is it necessary to put on a false personality all the time? How can someone hate themselves so much?
