Ajith will be reportedly seen in two roles in PR Handout

Ajith Kumar has been voted the Best South Actor of 2015. He has beaten big names like Mammotty, "Baahubali" actor Prabhas, Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep, Prithviraj, Vikram and many others.

IBNLive conducted a poll to find the Best Actor of South of 2015 in which Ajith, who is fondly called as Thala by his fans, emerged victorious by securing 46.88 percent of votes for his performance in "Yennai Arindhaal." The movie was written and directed by Gautham Menon, and Trisha Krishnan and Anushka Shetty were the female leads in the flick.

While the movie did a decent business at the box office, critics had praised the actor for taking up the movie, which was basically off-beat in nature.

Mammotty ended up at the second place for his acting in period-drama "Pathemari." He got 42.58 percent of votes. The movie won critical appreciation and became a hit at the box office. Apart from Ajith and Mammootty, none of the other nominees secured double-digit percentage.

Prabhas for his "Baahubali" garnered 4.01 percent of votes, Prithviraj for "Ennu Ninte Moideen" earned 2.27 percent, Chiyaan Vikram for "I" secured 1.46 percent, Kamal Haasan for "Paapanasam" got 1.14 percent, Dulquer Salmaan for "OK Kanmani" garnered 0.87 percent, child actors Ramesh and Vignesh for "Kaaka Muttai" secured 0.39 percent, Sudeep for "Ranna" got 0.22 percent and GV Prakash Kumar for his "Trisha Ileana Nayanthara" secured 0.19% percentage of votes.

Ajith's next to begin in June

Ajith, who is still recovering after undergoing multiple surgeries in November 2015, will start his next movie in June. The Siruthai Siva directorial movie, which is presently referred to as "Thala 57," is bankrolled by Sathyajyothi Films. The hunt for the female lead is on.
