Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has appreciated the organisers of the International beauty paegent for removing the bikini round from the competition.

She also said that when she won the prestigious title in the year 1994, competing against 87 contestants, she didn't have a perfect beach body.

"When I became Miss Word, I was definitely not the best beach body of all the 87 contestants. I can vouch for it...I can put a stamp on it. And yet I won the title. People believe that swimwear round is an imperative round and this becomes the deciding factor. That's not true," Aishwarya, who is very happy about the latest development said, according to IANS.

It was on 14 December 2014, during the 64th edition of the international beauty pageant in London, the organisers declared their decision to remove the swimsuit round.

During the event, the former beauty queen was also felicitated for her charity work "Beauty With a Purpose" and a successful career after winning the title.

On the career front, Aishwarya, who stayed away from acting for four years after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya, will next be seen in Sanjay Gupta's action thriller film "Jazbaa".

The shooting of the upcoming film, which also stars Irrfan Khan, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher  in the main roles, is set to begin next week.

"Jazbaa" is a female-centric film and Aishwarya will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar with action sequences.
