Speculations have been doing the rounds that filmmaker Karan Johar has approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to star in the remake version of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1982 directorial film "Bemisal".

Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, "Bemisal" is the remake of the Uttam Kumar's 1975 classic film "Ami Se O Shakha". The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Mehra, Raakhee, Deven Verma, Aruna Irani and Om Shivpuri in the lead roles.

One of the classic films of that year, "Bemisal" is still known for the performance by the actors.

Now, almost after three decades, filmmaker Karan Johar wants to remake the film and he might even have the leading lady in his mind. However, it is not yet confirmed whether Karan will direct the film himself.

"Karan Johar wants to remake "Bemisal". We're not sure whether or not he will direct the movie himself, but he has been thinking about remaking it at some point," a source told Hindustan Times.

"Karan has been thinking about casting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play Rakhee's character from the original. In fact, he is in talks with Aishwarya. She has been away from films for a while and we haven't heard of a confirmation yet from her end. But if all goes well, we will hopefully see her return to the big screen with this," the source added.

The 38-year-old former Miss World has not worked with the director before. If she agrees to do the film, it will be comeback film after the birth of her first child. Also it will be the first time Aish will be working for a film that featured her father-in-law in the lead role.
