TTK Prestige group has roped in Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, as brand ambassadors for its kitchen appliances.
The star couple is estimated to have charged ₹6 crore a year as their fee and they will endorse the brand for three years.
This is the second time Aishwarya and Abhishek will be seen together in a television advertisement. The last time they endorsed a brand together was in 2009 for a Lux soaps commercial.
With the new advertisement campaign, Prestige is re-introducing their slogan "Jo biwi se kare pyaar, woh Prestige se kaise kare inkaar" which aired during the 1990s. The ad campaign will be directed by Amit Sharma.
"The decision to bring back the timeless campaign with jo biwi se kare pyaar, woh Prestige se kaise kare inkaar' is significant. Having Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan as brand ambassadors re-emphasises our leadership in the country," TT Jagannathan, Executive Chairman, TTK Prestige said in a statement, according to PTI.
This is also the first time Prestige has taken a high-profile Bollywood couple to endorse their brand.
"It is the first time that a kitchen appliances brand has chosen a high profile Bollywood couple as brand ambassadors. We are happy to have Aishwarya and Abhishek endorse our brand and help us take the brand to newer heights," said the company's Managing Director Srinivasan Ravichandran.
During the press conference, Aishwarya and Abhishek revealed that they are food lovers, and Jr Bachchan also even praised his wife's culinary skills.
"She cooks really well... in fact she makes good deserts. When we were newly-married, there is a Bengali custom where the girl has to make some sweet and she prepared halwa which was too good. More than anything else, it is the emotion and with love you cook that matters," Abhi said during the event.
