  • Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (R) and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, welcomed their first child – a baby girl – on Nov. 16, 2011.Reuters

It's celebration time for the Bachchan family as a new member has joined the household. Wishes have been pouring in ever since Amitabh Bachchan announced that his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had given birth to a baby girl. The former Miss World- turned-actress gave birth to her first baby at around 10 am Wednesday at Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai.

Scores of Indian celebrities have taken to twitter to congratulate the Bachchans, perhaps the most powerful celebrity household in Bollywood, on the happy occasion. And Abhishek Bachchan, the newly turned father, thanked all the well-wishers - "Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest," he tweeted.
