'Against Our Sanskriti': Netizens dig out Kangana Ranaut's old Raksha Bandhan ad featuring strapless dress amid Kriti Sanon row

Seems like the digital war between Kriti Sanon and Kangana Ranaut refuses to die down.

It all started with netizens trolling Kriti over the bralette-style blouse she wore for a Raksha Bandhan ad.

Adding to the ongoing backlash, actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut also took a dig at the Adipurush actress over her outfit in the ad, saying that it was against Indian culture.

Now, netizens have dug out Kangana's old Raksha Bandhan advertisement, in which she is seen wearing a strapless dress.

Kangana had posted the ad on X in 2017. Reacting to it, a netizen tweeted, "Cultural shock over Kriti Sanon's act. Cultural heritage over Kangana Ranaut's act. Why? (sic)."

Another X user wrote, "Dusro ko bolna aata hai bus. MP ho desh ke Liye kaam karo na per nahi usne kya pehna yeh who etc etc. Galti public ki hai jo in logo ko vote kar dete hai." ("All she knows is how to lecture others. She's an MP, so she should work for the country, but instead, she's concerned about what someone else is wearing and all that. It's the public's fault for voting such people into power.")

One more netizen tweeted, "What is this dear? Totally inappropriate and against our Sanskriti.."

Meanwhile, the brand has removed the ad featuring Kriti after it faced backlash on social media.

Amid the controversy, Kriti reacted to the backlash and wrote on her Instagram Story, "The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear, it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions. Rakshabandhan is a bond of protection."

She further revealed that while she does not have a brother, she and her sister Nupur tie Rakhi to each other.

Reacting to the criticism over her outfit, Kriti wrote, "When will we stop telling women what to wear?? Ethnic fashion has evolved over the years, but still a woman's respect for her culture is measured with just her clothes!! Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline! (sic)."

Recently, in an interview with DD News, Kangana said that the bralette was only a small part of the issue and pointed out other aspects of the advertisement as well. She stated, "Mujhe lagta hai bralette usme se choti si cheez thi lekin sabse zyada Hinduon ko, hum log us line se aate hain, toh point out kar sakte hain. Mata-pita kahan hain? Ghar kahan hai? Halwa-poori, Bhagwan, teeka, akshat, dhoop, deep kuch bhi nahi hai." She stated, "I think the bralette was a small part of it, but what stood out the most was that Hindus, people who come from that tradition, could point this out. Where are the parents? Where is the home? There is nothing about halwa-poori, God, tilak, akshat, incense or lamps."

Kangana has not yet reacted to the trolling she is facing over her old Raksha Bandhan advertisement.
