After working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in "Jazbaa", director Sanjay Gupta is now going to direct Abhishek Bachchan in his next flick.

Gupta is set to make a gangster drama, titled "Ek Tha Gangster", and the reports suggest that he has signed Jr. Bachchan for the main lead.

It has also been reported that John Abraham and Huma Qureshi were going to star in this film, but now Abhishek seems to have replaced John, according to Pinkvilla.

This thriller flick is based on S Hussain Zaidi's 2014 bestseller, 'Byculla to Bangkok', a sequel to his 2012 novel 'Dongri to Dubai'.

"The film won't focus on Chhota Rajan, but will follow the colourful lives of the cops and politicians. There will be songs and dances as well," a source close to the director told Mumbai Mirror.

"This film will be a lot more filmy, featuring A-listers, with massy dialogue," the source further added.

Gupta had already purchased the film rights of Zaidi's book last year and had titled his script as "Mumbai Saga". But now the film, which will go on floors this December, has been re-titled as "Ek Tha Gangster".

"Sanjay's screenplay is riveting. He is the best mafia moviemaker in the industry. There are some sensational, high-voltage scenes I am looking forward to viewing on the big screen, in particular, the first interaction between a don and an encounter specialist. That should keep viewers glued to their seats," Zaidi told Mumbai Mirror.

Now, the question is that after giving Aishwarya a good comeback with "Jazbaa", will Gupta help Abhishek to boost his career graph?

Abhishek has only a few good films like "Guru" and "Yuva" to his credit; even his recent flick "All Is Well" didn't do well at the box office. It will be a turning point in his career if his and Gupta's partnership works out.
