Vendhar Movies of "Thalaivaa" fame has bagged the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of Vishal-Lakshmi Menon starrer "Pandiyanadu."

The acquisition will work in Vishal's favour as Vendhar Movies are known to promote their films in a big way. This year has not been really good for Vishal as his last release "Pattathu Yaanai" failed to rake in good collections. His other film "Madha Gaja Raja", which was expected to release on 6 September, has been delayed due to financial reasons.

Vishal has pinned high hopes on "Pandiyanadu", directed by Suseenthiran of "Naan Mahan Alla" fame. Now that "Pandiyanadu" has been acquired by Vendhar Movies, Vishal can breathe a sigh of relief as the banner will ensure the film gets a grand release.

"Pandiyanadu" is deemed as an action-packed family entertainer set in rural Madurai. For the first time, Lakshmi Menon has teamed up with Vishal in this film.

Interestingly, director Bharathi Raja will be playing Vishal's father. The film also features "Parotta" Soori who is expected to give comic relief. Actor Vijay's cousin Vikranth, Soma Sundaram and Adithya will appear in supporting roles.

Vishal has produced the film under his banner Vishal Film Factory. "Pandiyanadu" music is composed by Imman and the audio rights have been snapped by Think Music. A single number ("Othakadai Othakadai Machan") from the album was released on Sunday (22 September) at Chennai's Loyola Engineering College.

The film has been confirmed for a Diwali release and has joined the big race with Ajith-Vishnu Vardhan's "Arrambam" and Karthi-Rajesh's "All in All Azhaguraja".

According to trade experts, the Diwali period can accommodate two films at a time. But a third film releasing during the same time might result in lesser number of screens for the other two. It is evident that one film has to back out of the race. With just 38 days remaining for Diwali, one has to wait a little longer to find out which films will  make it to theatres during the festive weekend.
