Taiwanese smartphone maker Acer on Monday announced the world's first 4K high-resolution video recording smartphone, Liquid S2, just days ahead of the annual international electronics show IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2013 in Berlin.
The new Acer smartphone is said to flaunt a 6.0-inch IPS full HD (1920x1080p) screen having pixel density of 368 ppi (pixels per inch) and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display shield.
The company said the smartphone's 13.0-megapixel main camera can shoot ultra HD 4K (3840x2160p) resolutions video, which is twice the quality of current full HD standard thanks to f2.2 aperture, 24 mm lens and the powerful 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor. The chipset will also enable the new Liquid S2 to support super fast 4G-LTE network with a top download speed of 100 mbps.
Acer Liquid S2 will feature the Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box with 2GB and 16GB inbuilt memory. It also has options of memory expansion to a staggering 128GB capacity in order to accommodate high quality video file. Only few seconds of 4K resolution video will gobble up a major part of memory space.
Acer Liquid S2 is the successor to 5.7-inch quad-core Liquid S1 smartphone which was launched three months ago at the Asian electronics exhibition, Computex 2013 in Taipei.
The company has confirmed that Liquid S2 will be showcased along with the new Iconia A3 tablet PC and Aspire R7-572 Notebook at the upcoming IFA 2013 Berlin event and would release the new smartphone by the end of October this year. The price and availability details will be announced at a later date.
