Taiwanese computer maker Acer on Friday launched a sleek and light weighed tablet PC Iconia A1 in New York City.

Acer Iconia A1 sports a 7.9-inch LED backlit IPS screen with HD 1024x768p display resolution and it runs on Android mobile OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean powered by MediaTek based 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. The tablet PC will come in two variants - 8GB and 16GB - with options of expanding memory via microSD card.

"Tablets are becoming cherished companions to many people as they stay connected and entertained throughout their day," vice president of product marketing, Acer America, Sumit Agnihotry said at the launch event,  

"We want everyone to experience that. Everything that makes tablets so enjoyable is even better on the perfectly-sized Acer Iconia A1. The design is comfortable to hold, while the sleek build makes it a natural extension for anyone who wants to keep their digital life right at their fingertips," he added.

Along with Iconia A1, Acer also launched ultrabook series Aspire R7 and Aspire P3 as well as Aspire V series touch notebooks.

Acer Iconia A1-810 (16GB) is expected to hit stores initially in US In June for $199.99. However, there is no word regarding the tablet's release in other markets.
