After garnering good reviews and minting over ₹100 crore at the box office, the makers of "Aashiqui 2' have decided to make a sequel to the romantic musical drama.

Directed by Mohit Suri and co-produced by Bhatts' Vishesh Films and Bhushan Kumar, "Aashiqui 2" was deemed as the first blockbuster of the year following its release on 26 April. The film stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

"The audience loved Aashiqui 2. We are happy we could bring back the time of romance in Bollywood. We do have a plan to make Aashiqui 3 but that would be after two-three years. We want to take the brand ahead," Bhushan told Press Trust of India.

Apart from the sequel, Bhushan also intends to recreate the horror thriller "Creature" which stars Bipasha Baus. "Even this film has an interesting story line and a concept to be taken ahead and made again," he said.

"Aashiqui 2", a sequel to the 1990 musical blockbuster of the same name, is a love story of an established singer Rahul and an aspiring singer Arohi played by Aditya and Sharradha, respectively. The story takes an emotional turn when their relationship is affected by Rahul's bad temper and alcohol addiction. Both actors won several accolades for their performance in the film.

Aditya, who was also seen in 2010 film in "Action Replay", played a pivotal role in "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" which also made it to the elite ₹100 crore club.
