Bollywood actor Om Puri and South Indian actress Ramya Krishna have been roped in for Malayalam actor Jayaram's upcoming horror comedy film "Aadupuliyattam".

While Ramya will be seen in the role of Mathangi, the daughter of a tribal king, Om Puri will play a modern day ascetic.

Meanwhile, Jewel Mary of "D4 Dance" fame was earlier rumoured to have been starring opposite Jayaram in the horror film, directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. However, latest reports suggest the actress will not be seen opposite Jayaram as she had only listened to the story and never signed up for it. Some news portals also say Jewel is not interested to be part of the project as some of Jayaram's recent releases couldn't make a mark at the box office.

Jewel, who is just two films old, has been successful in carving a niche in the entertainment industry with her debut performance in Mammootty's hit film "Pathemari".

"Aadupuliyattam" is said to be based on an incident believed to have happened 600 years ago.

Sudheer Karamana, SP Sreekumar, Pashanam Shaji and Ramesh Pisharody will also be seen in significant roles in the film, produced by Haseeb Haneef under the banner of Grande Films Corporation and distributed by Anto Joseph FIlms Company.

While Dinesh Pallath has written the story and the screenplay, Pradeep Nair will handle the cinematography. The film will go on floors soon and will be shot majorly in Alappuzha and Pazhani.
