The Reliance industries awarded the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) scholarships to 24 talented footballers between the age of 11 and 14 years at the newly-opened Jio Garden in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, on Wednesday, 27 May.
The grand event was attended by Mukesh Ambani, Tina Ambani, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Bollywood celebs Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, John Abraham, Rajkumar Hirani, sports stars Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, among many others.

The event was organised to develop grassroots level football in the country and the guests were also seen enjoying an exhibition match between kids.
The selected students will now get training under international coaches and trainers, and can also study at the Reliance Foundation School in Mumbai (Koparkhairane).
The commitment and involvement of eight franchises of Indian Super League's (ISL) was also appreciated during the event. For the 'Best Grassroots Programme', the ISL gave away a cash award of ₹1.25 crore to Mumbai City FC team owner Ranbir Kapoor. Meanwhile, Delhi Dynamos FC team owner Sameer Manchanda got the runners-up award of ₹75 lakh.
