Suriya's much-awaited "24" is all set to be released in the U.S. and other foreign countries on May 5. The makers have also organised a special show in Fremont, California, on the same da and it will be attended by the actor's family.

"24" is releasing in 273 screens (137 in Tamil and 136 in Telugu) across the U.S. and will have a record number of shows on Thursday evening. People are now expecting the movie to break the premiere record of Vijay's "Theri," which earned $214,668 from 127 special shows.

The trade experts feel that the presence of Suriya in the U.S. may boost the collection of the movie. "24" has created positive hype with its teaser, trailer and the audio, thus the film may get a good opening.

However, it has to be seen whether the film will beat the records of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" ($404,566 from 118 shows) and "Endhiran" ($260,000 from 45 shows), which are the top two highest-grossing Tamil movies in the U.S. (premiere show).

The movie is simultaneously releasing in two languages in over 1,500 screens in worldwide. In the overseas alone, it is being released in about 660 screens.

Advance Booking Gets Good Response
Meanwhile, the advance booking for "24" in Tamil Nadu has got good response and the movie is expected to register a fantastic opening. "Strong advance booking reported for @Suriya_offl 's #24TheMovie in #Chennai City.. Big Weekend ahead at the BO," celebrity PR Ramesh tweeted.

"24," which has bagged the "U" certificate from the regional censor board, is a science fiction about time travel. Suriya will be seen in multiple roles, with Samantha and Nithya Menen romancing the actor in the movie.

Vikram Kumar has written and directed the movie, which has been bankrolled by Suriya himself under his home banner of 2D Entertainment.
