If you are planning an upgrade to a worthy SUV, it's worth waiting as the 2016 Pajero Sport by Mitsubishi is coming. There have been several leaks and teasers in the past, but the Japanese car-maker has kept specific details under wraps. In what is seen as the first official trailer of the all-new 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, impressive design, muscular look, refined lines and a complete overhaul is in projection for the new car.
The trailer released by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand on YouTube is more of a teaser as it does not give away many details about the car, but it surely gives the best look at the 2016 Pajero Sport so far. The upcoming Mitsubishi SUV is set for unveiling on 1 August in Thailand.
Recently, the all-new Pajero Sport was spotted testing on the Indian roads. Although the images are grainy, it gives us more cues. According to Overdrive, the 2016 Pajero Sport borrows the new Dynamic Shield styling from Outlander and features L-shaped LED day-time running lamps. Other changes include an X-shaped front grille, redesigned front bumper and triangular tail lamps swept back at the top.
As for the new Pajero Sport's engine specifications, it will get both petrol and diesel configurations. According to Overdrive, the SUV, equipped with 2.4-litre 4-cylinder MIVEC turbo-diesel, will be launched in India and the petrol variant will be reserved for international markets. The diesel engine is said to produce 178PS power and 430Nm torque and come in 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
The Pajero Sport 2016 model teased in the official video shows the 4WD variant, which is expected to hit the roads in India. In addition, the SUV is said to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The pricing and launch details in India remains a mystery, but it will challenge Toyota Fortuner and similar SUVs in the range.
