Mercedes-Benz released images of the interior of its upcoming E class. The fifth generation of the E-Class will be unveiled at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in January 2016.

The picture released indicates a modern dashboard in line with new generation flagship sedan, the S-Class. The dash features a wide high-resolution dual display (12.3 inches per display) screen and the driver can choose between three different styles to select their preferred screen design.

The newly designed touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel enables drivers to control vehicle functions without taking their hands off the wheel. The inputs can be given by the touchpad on the centre console.

The interior also features premium materials such as high quality leather and wood inserts. Different trim levels will feature different steering wheels, navigation system, materials, and trim. With 64 colours, it offers a host of possibilities for personalisation in ambiance lighting. The higher variants also come with the Burmester 3D surround sound system.

The new E-Class will be optionally available with a Multibeam LED headlamp system. This headlamps use 84 individually controlled high-power LEDs in each headlamp. That makes them bright and precise. The principle behind the headlamp is the same as the Audi's Martrix light system.

The details on the exterior and powertrains are scarce at the moment. A design in line with S-Class and C-Class that adopted new design language of Mercedes-Benz can be expected and the powertrains will also see changes with more powerful and fuel efficient engines.

The E-Class is pitted against the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series in India and foreign markets.
