The big three of the La Liga as well as European football circuit at the moment — Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi, and Neymar (Barcelona) — will be vying for the coveted 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or.

The prestigious awards scene has been dominated by Messi and Ronaldo over the past five years. While Messi has lifted the Player of the Year award on three consecutive occasions from 2010, Ronaldo came in to the scene in 2013, and lifted the award for the second straight time last year.

Whether Neymar gets to write his name on the list this year remains to be seen. The FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala takes place in Switzerland on 11 January, 2016, and the results will be out on the same day.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is pitted alongside Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli as the nominees for the Coach of the Year.

The Best Player of 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and USWNT (United States Women's Soccer Team) midfielder Carli Lloyd has been nominated for the Women's Footballer of the Year alongside Aya Miyama (Japan) and Celia Sasic (Germany).
