Rajinikanth's 2.0 has successfully completed its four weeks in theatres and entered its fifth week across the globe. The business of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's magnum opus has dropped in the last one week following a spree of new releases from Tamil and other languages.
In the US, 2.0 has turned out to be the highest grossing Tamil movie of all time. It surpassed Rajinikanth's previous best of Kabali ($4,585,808) and has earned $5,476,774, so far in this market. The industry has been keenly watching its progress to see whether the Shankar's flick breaches into Rs $6-million mark, but it is now unlikely to happen.
The movie is likely to lose its major screens this weekend and the lifetime collection of 2.0 in the US come somewhere closer to $5.6 million mark. Although the Rajinikanth-starrer has become the highest grossing film from Kollywood, the business is not up to the mark considering the mammoth hype and star cast.
2.0 was released after facing issues before premieres on 29 November. The film had met with mixed reviews and made average business post first weekend. Here, is the day-wise collection of the flick in the US:
