An 11-year-old girl from Salt Lake City, USA, was trapped inside a washing machine for 90 minutes while playing hide-and-seek with her cousins.

According to a PTI report, the unnamed girl was playing with her sister and cousins at her house. The girl decided to hide in the washing machine but was unable to get out as the door got jammed by an attached dryer overhead. The elder sister called her mother to help but despite everyone's best efforts, the girl could not be freed.

"At some point, we had tried butter, peanut butter, ice," Nicole Rhoades, the mother, told CNN.

Eventually, they had to call the emergency services, who managed to get the girl out of the machine. Interestingly, Rhoades captured photos of the 90-minute ordeal her daughter went through.

"They (firefighters) got out some gas powertools, and some big snips to get people out of cars. They were thinking they were going to have to cut down the middle of the washer, and open it up to get her out," Rhoades added.

The firefighters had to cut a portion of the machine to allow the door to open, and removed the stacked adjacent dryer.

The girl was bruised slightly. "Afterwards, we laughed about it. She's been laughing about it," the mom said.
