At least 10 people were killed and 45 were injured in an explosion outside the Delhi High Court Wednesday, reports said.

The blast took place outside Gate No. 5, leading to the reception of the busy High Court, where 100 to 200 people were waiting in a queue to get entry passes. The bomb was reportedly kept in a suitcase near one of the entry pass counters.

Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram condemned the bomb blast and said that the capital has always been a target of terror groups who have been trying to destabilize the nation. Pakistan-based terror group Harkat-ul-Jihaadi claimed responsibility for the blast in an e-mail sent to various media in Delhi.

The e-mail states, " We owe the responsibility of todays blasts at high court delhi..... our demand is that Afzal Guru's death sentence should be repealed immediately else we would target major high courts & THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA..........".

Afzal Guru is on death row for a 2001 attack on Parliament.
