The release date of Ram Charan Teja's "Yevadu" has been pushed to 21 August, due to non-availability of screens.

Initially, "Yevadu" was slated for release on 31 July, a week ahead of the release of Pawan Kalyan's much-awaited film "Atharintiki Daaredi." "Yevadu" producer Dil Raju was confident that two big-budget films releasing at the same period will not hamper their business and will do well at the box office.

"I don't think the box-office has anything to do with stars and their films. Two films featuring star actors can have a good run at the box-office provided they are good. Remember, 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Lagaan' released on the same day and went on to be blockbusters," Dil Raju once told Indo Asian News Service.

But the producer had to give into peer pressure due to non-availability of screens. In a press meet held on Saturday, the producer announced that the film's release date has been pushed from 31 July to 21 August, a public holiday for Rakhi Pournami.

"We've decided to revise the release date of Yevadu and the film would now hit the screens on 21 August," Raju said.

This could mean that "Atharintiki Daaredi" will have a solo big release on 7 August. The Eid holiday and the Independence Day weekend might help the film get a good opening at the box office. The film, deemed as commercial entertainer, has Samantha playing the female lead. The rest of the cast includes Nadhiya, Ali, Brahmanandam and Kota Srinivasa Rao.

Ram Charan's "Yevadu" is also touted as a commercial entertainer directed by Vamsi Paidipally. It has Shruti Haasan and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. The film was censored on Saturday and received an "A" certificate, which almost confirmed the release date of "Yevadu" as 31 July.

But the change in the release date has come as a surprise for Mega family fans, who were eager to see a big clash between Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan's films at the box office.
