Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor
Actors Saif Ali Khan (R) with actress Kareena Kapoor

Actor Saif Ali Khan recently put an end to all speculation surrounding his marriage to ladylove Kareena Kapoor, confirming that the wedding will take place in Maldives this December.

In a recent interview with a leading daily, the actor declared that the much-anticipated union will not be held in October, while slamming previous reports that nuptials will take place in India or in London.

"The wedding is in Maldives...100 people...December not October!" Saif told Mumbai Mirror.

Saif's statement came a day after Kareena told the media that only her fiancé will make an announcement of the wedding.

Ever since reports of a Saif-Kareena wedding started cropping up, family members of the couple gave several versions on the details of the upcoming ceremonies.

While Saif said that "the date is not yet decided," his mother Sharmila Tagore said, "I am warning Saif, the wedding is definitely on October 16."

On the contrary, when a leading daily contacted Saif's sister in a bid to clear the confusion, Soha Ali Khan appeared absolutely clueless and confused.

"I am quite confused myself. I know it is happening with the people in question, but they haven't set the date or talked about it...  "I think it is happening imminently," Soha Ali Khan said.

Amidst all the drama, it seemed that either the family mutually decided to deliver different versions to confuse the media or they are unable to make a collective decision on the marriage.

Saif is apparently caught between the two most important women in his life and is finding it hard to make a decision on the marriage. Sharmila reportedly wanted the couple to settle down early, while girlfriend Kareena is giving top most priority to her career.

Though Saif wants to fulfill his mothers' wish, he simultaneously wants to save Kareena's blooming career from the jinx that a married actress will have in the film industry.

Kareena is currently at the peak of her career, with her kitty full of potential big films and meatier roles. Her latest film "Heroine", directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, is possibly one of the biggest movies to come out this year. However, the family is concerned if her film career will inevitably go down with her married status.
