In the wake of "Thalaivaa" releasing on 20 August, actor Vijay has issued a press statement expressing his gratitude towards the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

The actor has thanked CM Jayalalithaa for ensuring that all problems related to the film's release were sorted out. He also requested his fans to watch the film in theatres with family.

"Thalaivaa was fixed for release on the 9th of August. However due to certain threats from miscreants, the movie did not hit the screens. For the past ten days, all of us including, the producer, distributors, theater owners, my fans and I were very upset that the movie had not come out. There were lots of unwanted rumours spreading in the media," Vijay said in a press release.

"However, our Chief Minister interfered in the issue and brought a resolution to it. I thank the Chief Minister to have helped us out in this problem amidst the busy schedule she is in. I also wish to thank all my fans to have waited patiently for the release of the movie. I request you all to enjoy the movie along with your family," he added.

"Thalaivaa" was released in several Indian states and also in overseas markets on 9 August. The film has received good response from the audience in these places. The action drama will release in 500 screens across Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (20 August).

Following a request from Vendhar Moives, Tamil Nadu distributors of "Thalaivaa", the makers of the film have removed "Time to Lead" from all publicity and promotional materials, reported The Indian Express.

Directed by AL Vijay, "Thalaivaa" is about a common man who turns into a leader under certain circumstances. Apart from actor Vijay, "Thalaivaa" has Amala Paul, Sathyaraj, Santhanam, Rajeev Pillai and Ponvannan in supporting roles. The film is produced by Chandraprakash Jain under Sri Mishri Production banner.
