Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor starrer "Raanjhanna" is nearing the ₹50 crore mark. After the second weekend, "Raanjhanna" has raked in ₹45.63 crore at the domestic box office.

"Raanjhanaa" collections on Friday (28 June) were affected owing to new releases, but the Dhanush starrer did good business on Saturday and Sunday. The breakup for the second weekend is: Friday ₹2.35 crore, Saturday ₹3.65 crore, Sunday ₹4.70 crore. In the first week, "Raanjhanaa" minted approximately ₹34.93 crore nett. Adding the second weekend collections, the amount now totals to ₹45.63 crore nett at the domestic box office.

"#Raanjhanaa collected 10.70 cr nett in Weekend 2. Grand total: 45.63 cr nett. Breakup for Wknd 2:- Fri 2.35 cr, Sat 3.65 cr, Sun 4.70 cr," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Even before "Raanjhanaa's" release, expectations were high thanks to an impressive trailer and the beautiful songs composed by Oscar-award winning composer AR Rahman.

After hitting the theatres on 21 June, the film not just impressed the critics but also wowed the audience. The performances of film's cast including the lead actors and supporting cast - Swara Bhaskar (Bindiya) and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub (Murari) won accolades from all quarters.

The Tamil dubbed version of "Raanjhanaa" titled "Ambikapathy," which was released on 28 June, also opened to a good response thanks to positive feedback that the original version had received. "Ambikapathy" fared better than other two Tamil releases, which received thumbs down from critics and film buffs.

"#Ambikapathy Good opening 4 a dubbed film across TN has taken trade by surprise. Both the other new films put together nowhere near," senior journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.

However, the collections of "Amibakapathy" dropped after the successful start, which is the fate of all dubbed films releasing in Tamil Nadu, Sreedhar said.
