Rajinikanth's most-anticipated film "Kochadaiyaan" will reportedly release this year on the superstar's birthday date - 12 December.

"We are aiming at a 12 December, 2013 release for the film, finally. It's been a long struggle. But we wanted Rajiniji's fans to get the most perfect film after a 3-year wait. I think we've achieved what we set out to do," film's co-producer Dr Murli Manohar was quoted as saying by bollywoodhungama.com.

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the first look teaser of "Kochadaiyaan" was released on social networking sites for public viewing. The one-minute, 15-second video has gone viral, receiving more than 399,000 views in less than 12 hours. The teaser shows Rajini as a warrior in a battlefield. It also shows the younger, healthier superstar walking stylishly with hundreds of dancers in the background. [To watch teaser, click here]

The film's audio launch is expected to happen in October, during the Navarathri (Dussehra) festival season. Oscar winner AR Rahman has composed the songs and the musical maestro will release a single number from his album this month.

"Kochadaiiyaan" is touted as India's first 3D film made using motion-capturing techniques. The film is directed by Soundarya, the younger daughter of Rajinikanth. It is an epic drama with Rajini appearing in dual roles - Kochadaiyaan and Rana. Danseuse-cum-actor Shobana plays senior Rajini's partner, while Deepika is the younger Rajini's love interest.

"Kochadaiiyaan" is likely to be another big hit for Deepika, who already has three blockbuster films - "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Race 2" and "Chennai Express" - to her credit. Besides Rajini, Shobana and Deepika, "Kochadaiiyaan" has Nassar, Jackie Shroff, Sarath Kumar, Aadhi and Rukumini in pivotal roles.

The epic drama, reportedly being made on a whopping budget of over ₹100 crore, will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Moreover, the film will hit screens in other foreign languages, including English and Japan.

Rajini has a huge fan following across the globe. The success of the superstar's last release -"Endhiran" ("Robot") - has catapulted the actor to the international arena. His upcoming film "Kochadaiyaan" is all set to be released after a span of three years when "Endhiran" hits theatres.
