Vikram Prabhu's "Ivan Vera Mathiri" (He is Different) is estimated to have grossed around ₹6.5-₹7 crore in its opening weekend at the Tamil Nadu box office.

"Ivan Vera Mathiri" (aka "Ivan Veramathiri") had a solo big release on 13 December with the film being shown in more than 500 screens worldwide. In Tamil Nadu alone, the Vikram Prabhu starrer was released in around 323 screens.

The film received good reviews from critics upon its release. Audiences have also given positive feedback for the film. The action thriller film made a good opening on the first day of its release, thanks to earlier releases which failed to set the cash registers ringing.

At least five films were released on 6 December, a week ahead of "Ivan Vera Mathiri" release. Of the five films, only three managed to get average openings. However, their business dropped significantly with the release of "Ivan Vera Mathiri". The film seems to be the first choice of the public with average theatrical occupancies being around 70 percent during the first weekend.

Trade sources have told Behindwoods website that "Ivan Vera Mathiri" has grossed around ₹7 crore, with the film raking in over ₹1 crore in its debut weekend at the Chennai box office.

While the three-day collections were good, it remains to be seen how the film fares in weekdays. The action entertainer has around four days to post decent figures. With several Tamil and other-language films gearing up for big openings, the business of "Ivan Vera Mathiri" is likely to get affected.

Directed by Saravanan of "Engeyum Eppodhum" fame, "Ivan Vera Mathiri" is about how a common man fights against injustice. Although the film's plot has been seen before, there is a uniqueness in its presentation, said critics.

Newbie Surabhi is in the female lead, while Vamsi Krishna plays the antagonist. The film's other cast members include Ganesh Venkatraman and Harirraj.

The film's music album, which has six tracks, is composed by Sathya who also composed the hit numbers in Saravanan's debut flick "Engeyum Eppodhum". Shakthi has handled cinematography, while Sreekar Prasad has done the editing work. The film is jointly produced by Thirupathi Brothers and UTV Motion Pictures.
