Shah Rukh Khan's family entertainer "Chennai Express" has finally exceeded the worldwide collection record of Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots". Now "Chennai Express" has taken the top spot in the worldwide collection chart with a gross total of ₹399 crore, followed by "3 Idiots" with ₹386 crore.

The gross domestic total of he SRK-Deepika Padukone starrer is ₹290 crore and its overseas total is around $17.30 million, Koimoi.com reported. "Chennai Express" nett box office collections from Indian market is ₹220.37 crore.

"#ChennaiExpress [Week 4] Fri 81 lacs, Sat 1.14 cr. Grand total: ₹220.37 cr. All Time Blockbuster," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.  

"3 Idiots" nett domestic total is ₹202 crore and its gross figure stands at ₹269 crore in India. In the International market, the film made a business of about $25 million, which is the highest till date.  

The total overseas earnings of Rohit Shetty's directorial film are much less than that of "3 Idiots".

However, in terms of worldwide figures "Chennai Express" has taken the top position. The other films in the list include Salman Khan's 2012 release "Ek Tha Tiger" in third place with ₹319 crore gross worldwide earning, followed by Ranbir Kapoor's "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani"  in the fourth position with ₹309 crore and "Dabangg 2" in the fifth spot with ₹265 crore.
