"Chennai Express" has managed to hold well on the first day of its fourth week, despite the release of Amitabh Bachchan-Ajay Devgn starrer "Satyagraha."

According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Chennai Express" earned ₹81 lakh on Friday (30 August). The SRK-starrer is looking to fetch around ₹5 crore or slightly higher during the fourth week in limited screens.

Prakash Jha's "Satyagraha" had a solo release in 2,700 plus screens worldwide. The film had a good opening, earning around ₹11 crore on the first day of its release but it has not hampered the business of "Chennai Express." Despite being shown on limited number of screens, Shah Rukh's film has done decent business at the end of the third week.

"Chennai Express" has smashed all records at domestic box office and is still continuing to have a good run. Vajir Singh, editor of Box Office India, told AFP that public holidays in the first three week of its release and Shah Rukh's strong promotional activities helped the film to earn big.

The total collections of "Chennai Express" (in domestic markets) stand at ₹219.23 crore till Friday (30 August).

"#ChennaiExpress continues to hold well, despite new releases and limited screens/shows. Week 4 Fri 81 lacs. Grand total: 219.23 crores," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, "Chennai Express" is about a 40-year-old man who gets embroiled with dons living in south India after he helps a Tamil girl (Deepika Padukone) onboard the Chennai Express train. The film has Satyaraj appearing as Deepika's father and Nikitin Dheer as her fiance.

The action-comedy entertainer has smashed several international Bollywood records too but it is yet to cross Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" collections at the worldwide box office.
