Ravi Teja's "Balupu" has had an impressive start not just in India, but also in overseas markets.

"Balupu", which was released on 28 June, raked in a total of ₹56 lakh in just two days at the US box office. The film was also positioned at the 18th spot in the top 20 list.

"Telugu film #Balupu debuts at No 18 position at USA Boxoffice. Thu previews + Friday $ 94,051 [₹56 lacs]. Very good start!" film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"Balupu" was released in 70 centres across the US. This is the biggest ever US release for a Ravi Teja film. Interestingly, the film has fared better than bollywood film "Ghanchakkar", which opened in more number of screens in the US. The Emraan Hashmi -Vidya Balan starrer was released in about 86 screens.

"Ghanchakkar"minted ₹31.43 lakh on the first day in US and Canada markets. "#Ghanchakkar *USA-Canada* Fri $ 52,800 [₹31.43 lacs] from 89 screens," Taran tweeted.

This is much lesser than "Balupu" collections, which amounted to ₹56 lakh in two days including Thursday (27 June) previews. "Telugu film #Balupu has fetched a good start in USA. As per early trends, the film is much, much ahead of #Ghanchakkar," Taran said.

"Balupu" has also had a great opening in Indian markets. According to a report by Idlebrain.com, the film collected ₹3.89 crore on the first day in Andhra Pradesh, which is the biggest ever opening collection in Ravi Teja's career.

The film has received good reviews from film critics. Ravi Teja's punch dialogues, action, as well as comedian Brahmanandam's funny scenes are the highlights in the film. Positive word of mouth is expected to help the film perform better over the weekend.

Directed by Gopichand, "Balupu" has Shruti Haasan, Anjali, Adivi Sesh and Ashutosh Rana in significant roles. The film is an action entertainer with a good dose of comedy that is sure to rock the masses. "Balupu" is expected to become one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters this year.
