Twenty Indian nationals are reported to have been killed in an air strike by the Saudi-led alliance on fuel smugglers at a Yemeni airport, but the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) here said there was no independent confirmation of the report .

''We are trying to ascertain the facts,'' MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup told UNI, when asked about the killing of the Indians, as reported by Reuters.

The report quoted fishermen, and also Houthi-rebels-run news agency Saba, besides medical sources. However, Mr Swarup said the MEA could say nothing, unless it veried the report itself.

The alliance forces have intensified their air strikes on Yemeni capital Sanaa and other parts of the country since last week after a Houthi missile attack killed at least 60 Saudi, Bahrini and UEA soldiers at a military camp, east of Sanaa.
