Xiaomi's recent launch of its all-new Redmi Note 2 in China is all set to intensify competition in the budget smartphone segment in India.
It is only a matter of time before the new handset arrives in India to compete with the likes of Lenovo K3 Note, YU Yureka Plus and others.
The Redmi Note 2 serves as the successor to Xiaomi's Redmi Note and expected to be priced under Rs. 10,000, just like the Lenovo K3 Note.
To give readers a heads-up, we are giving below a comparison between the Redmi Note 2 and the the K3 Note.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 401ppi and minimal screen brightness for suitable reading in low-light conditions. Comparatively, the Lenovo K3 Note comes with a similar 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, which means buyers won't lose out on much in this regard.
Xiaomi is using a new 64-bit class MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 Octa-core Cortex A53 processor to power its Redmi Note 2 while the Lenovo K3 Note houses a 64-bit class1.7GHz Mediatek MT6752 Octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU. On AnTuTu benchmark, Lenovo K3 Note scored an impressive 46,375 but we are yet to get our hands on Xiaomi's latest product to test the performance.
RAM and Storage
It's a tie here, as both phones pack 2GB RAM and 16GB built-in storage. However, the Lenovo K3 Note gets an option to expand storage up to 32GB using microSD card while the Redmi Note 2 gets a separate 32GB variant.
The Lenovo K3 Note packs a 13-megapixe rear-facing camera with AF and dual LED flash paired with a 5-megapixel front snapper for selfies. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 uses a 13-megapixel Samsung/OV camera with LED flash, 0.1s focus speed and a 5-megpaixel front snapper with f/2.2 aperture.
The battery units in both phones are identical. The Lenovo K3 Note packs a 3,000mAh unit while the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 gets a 3,060mAh battery pack.
Price and Availability
The K3 Note has been selling well in Lenovo's weekly flash sales. The company has sold more than 3 lakh units in one month. Available only on Flipkart, the Lenovo K3 Note is available in black and white colours in weekly flash sales every Wednesday. The next sale is scheduled to take place on 19 August.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is yet to be released in India. But when it debuts, it is expected to follow the flash sale route and likely to be priced under Rs. 10,000 to compete with its rival.
