Xiaomi is focusing a lot on its Indian presence and is holding a global MIUI 7 launch event in New Delhi on Wednesday. In an official post, the Chinese tech giant confirmed that it will launch the global version of MIUI 7 in the Indian capital on 19 August.

The grand event is a follow-up to the company's event in China last week, where it unveiled the all-new Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Prime, Mi Wi-Fi Nano and the MIUI 7 China ROM.

So far, Xiaomi has only confirmed that it will launch MIUI 7 for its global fans and explain all the features first hand. But there is a little knowledge about a new product launch, probably Redmi Note 2. We highlighted the changes Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 must undergo before entering India, mainly after the company's patent troubles with Ericsson earlier this year.

Since the highlight of the event is MIUI 7, Xiaomi is doing everything to promote its new ROM by inviting fans. Just last week, the company revealed the lucky Mi fans who received an invite for the event, which will be held at The Lalit in New Delhi. During the event, company's vice-president Hugo Barra will give a demonstration of the key features integrated in the new MIUI 7. The event will commence at 2.30pm IST and is expected to continue till 6pm.

Based on the MIUI 7 China ROM release, we listed a few notable features that make the OS worthy of an upgrade. But Xiaomi said in its post that there will be "some new features specifically for global MIUI fans".

MIUI 7 is Xiaomi's latest OS version based on Google's Android 5.1 Lollipop. It includes new features like MI Roaming app, enhanced Gallery and Photos app, new themes including the pink 'Goddess' theme aimed at female users, video play for contacts and the useful kids mode.

IBTimes India will be reporting the event live from New Delhi tomorrow. Keep looking for real-time updates.
