South Indian Superstar Rajinikanth could well be the chief guest of the upcoming International Film Festival of India 2013 (IFFI) if all goes well. An organiser of the event has told news agency IANS that he has been invited to the festival which is scheduled to be held on 20-30 November 2013, in Goa.

"We have sent him an invite and are awaiting confirmation. It would be an honour to have him here," Vishnu Wagh, vice chairperson of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), an agency that coordinates the logistics of the film festival, told the news agency.

Wagh went on to say that ESG would wait for the superstar to confirm his attendance at the inaugural of the film festival.

Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar was the chief guest of IFFI in 2012.

Rajinikanth, 62, is awaiting the release of his latest film, "Kochadaiiyaan" which is slated to hit screens on 12 December. The film, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and Japanese, was scheduled for release this Diwali but has been postponed to coincide with the superstar's birthday. The hype around the film has been good with its first teaser getting more than 34 lakh views in one month.

"Kochadaiiyaan" is a period film directed by Soundarya and produced by Sunil Lulla. It has Rajinikanth playing a triple role and also features R Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Jackie Shroff and Nassar in lead roles.
