In the episode 12, titled ".exe," of CBS' fiction-drama series "Person of Interest" Season 5, it seems that after infiltrating a maximum security government facility, Finch (Michael Emerson) will try to put an end to the Samaritan, The Machine and most probably to himself too.

The synopsis of the episode, as stated by Yibada, reads: "Finch embarks on a dangerous and desperate mission to finish the Samaritan for good. However, Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Shaw (Sarah Shahi) race against time to stop him before he puts himself and The Machine in danger."

According to Yibada, creator and executive producer of the show Jonathan Nolan and showrunner Greg Plageman discussed the Season 5 finale at the ATX TV festival in Austin.

When asked how the relationship between Finch and Reese will progress in the future episodes, they said that the audience will be "really happy with the finale." However, Nolan immediately added that fans can be "really unhappy" too.

Plageman said that the Finch-Reese relationship is the "heart of the show." However, he also hinted that though the show has a tradition to bring back people together, it might not happen every time.

"Whether or not it was on screen, it was understood. That was the start of this whole crazy endeavor when Finch hired him. We tried to service that in Episode 9 of this year where they resumed under the bridge, only it was all of them now. It was going to take all of them to take [Samaritan] down," Plageman told IGN.

Plageman also stated that the last song of this season will be composed by Ramin Djawadi of "Game of Thrones" fame.

"What the last scene would be, what the last song would be. But our amazing composer, Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones), composed something so beautiful that out went the song and in went the score. So it didn't quite end exactly as we anticipated but the body count was the same."
