According to the synopsis of the episode, a summer's day in Oxford is screwed apart, when a parcel bomb explodes. The team is called in to investigate, but the victim is a womaniser, having been known to have had numerous affairs with younger women.

With his six-month trip to New Zealand with Hobson on the horizon, Lewis is in a race against time to save his career and relationship.

Lewis is trying his best to make sure that he spends some quality time with Hobson so that she can realise how much he cares for her. However, it seems the luck is not on Lewis' side as just when he took her to a romantic holiday, a crucial case pops out.

Now in a dilemma, Lewis is not sure how he should break it on Hobson as he fears that Hobson will be highly upset and it may ruin all the efforts he has been making lately.

Nevertheless, he also can't ignore the call of duty and as this case requires immediate attention, he must hurry up and decide. Otherwise both his job and reputation will be at stake.

In the previous episode titled "Magnum Opus," Lewis and Hathaway were called to investigate a body in some woodland. But realising three more murders were to follow, the team hurried to catch the killer, before they happen. Hathaway struggled to cope with his father's illness, as he continued to search to find out who he was before the dementia kicked in.
