This Friday's episode of The Exorcist will see Angela's relationship with her family getting strained as her daughter Casey is still in danger.

Marcus had a bit of success with the baptism in the lake, which helped weaken the demon, but Casey is not safe completely. Season 1 episode 7 will pick up immediately where it left off with the demon trying to gain control over Casey and Marcus trying to prevent that at any cost.

This battle between two strong forces will continue until episode 10, executive producer Jeremy Slater told Entertainment Weekly. "It's the first salvo in this larger exorcism that we teased in episode 5. We're going to start seeing the battle between Marcus and Casey pick up where it left off, and all of that begins at the end of this episode," he said.

According to the synopsis for Friday's episode titled Father of Lies, Marcus will seek Mother Bernadette's help to deal with a new problem and Father Bennett is put in danger while investigating the Tattersal corporation.

The series is a continuation of the 1973 film The Exorcist and in the final moments of Through My Most Grievous Fault, Geena Davis' character Angela Rance revealed that she is actually Regan MacNeil, the girl who was possessed in the movie. The events in the television series are set about 40 years after the events of the film.

"This time around, evil has grander ambitions than targeting an eight-year-old girl in Georgetown…" Slater told Variety. "You need the propulsive twists and turns, and we have plenty of big plot twists, but at the end of the day, it's always going to be about a family in trouble and the priests brought in to help them."

The Exorcist airs Fridays on Fox.
